Instead of making chocolates this Valentines, I made salted caramels with a twist: they are topped with espresso sugar, turning them into a great blend of salty/sweet/jolty!
I love Heidegger's analysis of Van Gogh's peasant shoes: "On the leather lie the dampness and richness of the soil. Under the soles stretches the loneliness of the field-path as evening falls. In the shoes vibrates the silent call of the earth, its quiet gift of the ripening grain and its unexplained self-refusal in the fallow desolation of the wintry field."
Pretty crumpets is a phrase to use when describing the little delights in everyday life- from laughing with a friend to finding an odd trinket at an antique store. It is about sharing little morsels of joy that are sweet, random, unnecessary, and fulfilling.
